Summer starts now as students, teachers and staff have packed up the classroom to prepare for the next school year. That is right, after days of constant learning and long nights of studying, school has finally come to an end.
Not only are these hard-working students receiving their well-deserved break, but so are the teachers and staff! Throughout last week, the teachers implemented some fun into their busy day-to-day schedule.
Last week, the teachers and staff had one last end-of-the-year lunch to celebrate their hard work. While eating, they shared their most unforgettable moments of the year, laughter, and most importantly, they all shared a bond that could not be experienced if it were not for their genuine love of teaching others. Thank you to the outstanding teachers of Water Valley High!
Our annual staff has also wrapped up the year with a remarkable achievement – the completion of the 2024 “Valley Views” yearbook! This project was an exemplification to their teamwork and dedication. From scheduling team and academic pictures to staying after school to proofread the pages, each staff member played a crucial role in bringing this yearbook to life. We invite you to pick up your copy at the upcoming open house and relive the memories of this school year!
Now for the students – the Blue Devils have reached their favorite part of the year, summer break! For many students, this is just a brief break before returning in August for their upcoming school year, but for the senior class of 2024, this past week was FINAL! What seemed like a time that would never arrive has come faster than ever! However, before these seniors could walk the stage Thursday, they were required to have a mandatory practice the day before, Wednesday. The seniors and staff all met on the football field to practice their walk, speeches, and order of graduation!
The following graduation day, while the weather was not looking its best, the sun and clouds were on our side as the class of 2024 celebrated their final gathering one last time on the Bobby Clark Field! The stands were more packed than a Friday night football game, and if you know the local community of Water Valley and how supportive they are of football, you know that crowd is hard to top!
The stands were filled with fellow students, community members, and families bearing gifts and balloons! As each student walked the stage to receive their diploma, the chants and screams of excitement were unlimited! After the students returned to their chairs, they were pronounced “the graduating class of 2024.”
Before the final words could even be announced, blue hats and tassels were flying through the air, and the crowd poured onto the field! Last but surely not least, the senior class made sure to honor their fellow senior classmate who was not able to attend her graduation physically but was there in spirit, Raven Scroggins!
The students even went as far as to decorate her chair with items that represent her bubbly and wonderful personality!
Graduation was a bittersweet moment that the senior class shared, but the tears didn’t last long as the students knew that this was only the beginning of their journey and that each and every one of them would reach great accomplishments in life! Congratulations to the graduating class of 2024!
Well, community, this is the end! What feels like a long year has flown by! Every moment the Blue Devils spent “Inside the Blue and White” may not have been the easiest, but it for sure is appreciated because without it, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
Be sure to check back next year to see what the Blue Devils are getting into for the new school year! And community, if you don’t remember anything else, remember,
“It’s a great day to be a Blue Devil!”
