WATER VALLEY – A celebration honoring longtime friendships and memories will return in September. The “I’m So Water Valley” event is scheduled Sept. 21 on Main Street after a five-year pause due to the Covid.
Keesha Moore launched the “I’m So Water Valley” event in 2014 after dozens of people commented on a Facebook post about favorite memories of their city.
“Everybody was on there posting… ‘I remember TWL, I remember Stubbs, I remember Pizza Hut,” Moore said about the memories shared on Facebook a decade ago.
That walk down memory lane prompted Moore’s Facebook friends to encourage her to coordinate an event celebrating friendships and memories. Moore said the first event was held in 2014 at Baker Street Park in Water Valley and it was a big success. Moore sold 1,000 T-shirts that first year. The enthusiasm that first year prompted Moore to make it an annual event each year at the Baker Street Park.
Event sponsors are Lee McMinn, Steve Thompson and Cayce Washington. Committee members coordinating the event are Moore, Sophia Drane, Nicole Folson, Ramona Bernard, Landon Buckley and Calin Drane.
Moore explained T-shirt sales help fund the event and a T-shirt committee is coordinating this part of the event. Committee members are Latasha Moore, Miranda Phillips, Tiesha Cooper, Edith Woodall, Christopher Yancy, Rebecca Phillips, Jasmine Pomerlee, Ingrid Reed, Joyce Woodard, Vickie Person and Bernadette Sayles.
“We are taking orders through August 17, that will be the last day,” Moore said. “They are blue with white writing.”
Moore reported city officials have pledged support with traffic control as a portion of Main Street will be blocked off for the event. The action will start at 10 a.m. and local DJ Ty Pritchard will spin the tunes from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the bandstand in Railroad Park. The Beale Street All Stars from Memphis will take the stage for the final hours playing a variety of favorites. The event will end at 8 p.m.
For the kids zone, Luther Folson will bring bouncy houses and Steve Thomas will dazzle with his balloon magic.
The lineup also includes 25 food vendors and counting including local favorites such as Buckley’s Shaved Ice along with popular food trucks from surrounding areas. There will be a variety of offerings available ranging from barbecue and fish to nachos to tasty sweets.
“We have some awesome vendors coming,” Moore said.
Moore said craft vendors can continue to sign up until July 31 and spots cost $50.
“Some of the craft vendors who set up during the Blues Festival in Water Valley earlier this year have reached out and are coming. We are expecting a great line-up of crafts,” she added.

“People have missed it since 2019, a lot of people are coming this year. They are very excited about it being on Main Street. I believe this year is going to be bigger,” Moore said.
