I hope everyone has had a great week and is staying cool. It’s unreal to me how hot it is and I hate to see what August is going to be like. I’m sure I say that every year though. When it’s cold I want hot, when it’s hot I want cold. It’s funny to me how the weather goes. I need a house in the north for summer and then here for winter. I’ve spent so much time in the pool this summer, so that helps.
Not much has been going on this week but I have been busy though. I think I’m busier now that I’m not working than I was when I had a job. There is so much I put off.

Bro. Grant Coffey brought us a great message Sunday from Proverbs 3:1-6. He talked about how to be in God’s favor. There is a difference between receiving blessings and being in God’s favor. Favor is God stepping into our situation. It is preferential treatment. God has shown this preferential treatment all throughout the Bible.

An example is Noah. Noah obeyed God and God chose him to be the one to survive the flood. He chose Moses to lead the people from bondage. He said Abraham would be the father of many nations. It was Abraham’s obedience and faith that put him in God’s favor. So, how do we get in God’s favor? Solomon said we are to trust in God, lean on Him, and acknowledge Him in all we do (verse 5).

When we do these things, He will direct our paths (verse 6). If we want His favor, we have to work for it. We have to trust in Him and be obedient to Him. We all want and need God to step into our situations. We need God’s favor. When we become saved, we all receive God’s grace. But we have to work to be in His favor.

I hope you all find yourselves in God’s favor. Bro. Grant said to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you to receive His favor. We are children of the one true God. We’re already blessed. God wants a true and intimate relationship with us. He wants to give us His favor. This week, reflect on your life and your situation. Pray for God to favor you in all you do. Make sure you trust Him completely and serve Him totally.

I have a bad habit of trying to control my life on my own. I tend to get it all messed up before I ask God to intervene. This is one of my major flaws to work on. I find that when I completely let go and trust God, he shows me His favor. So, I hope you find yourselves in God’s favor.

If you’re looking for a home church, invite you to join us. Services start at 11 a.m. each Sunday.
