The Fourth of July commemorates when the United States gained its independence and historically the day is filled with celebrations. The Fourth is one of the most colorful and interesting celebrations of the year. It’s a time to get together with friends, enjoy your favorite summer foods, listen to music and have a great time. Celebrations for the Fourth of July are fireworks, family reunions, concerts, barbecues, picnics, parades, baseball games are among the most popular ones. Turn the music up and let’s all have fun!!
I’m sitting here relaxing before my company comes and listening to the humming of lawnmowers. My neighbors getting ready for the Fourth, I guess.

Love and sympathy to the Vickie Lynn James family of Leland. She passed away at her residence June 22. Services were held on Tuesday June 25 at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Leland.

Martha Box said she missed church Sunday, working on the plumbing all day. Monday was a long, wore out, but blessed day. Ken Dunning showed up and gave her the gift of cutting her huge yard. He told Martha he did it because of all she does.
Wow! Martha’s son, Ben, came over and gave Ken a gift for giving Martha the gift.
Steven and April Proctor worked hard and rescued Martha’s plumbing situation.
All this was on Monday, Martha added. On Thursday she reported her daughter, Ginger Box Harrison, was recuperating well with great care from her sweetheart, Phil, and boys. I hear daughter, Ginger’s daughter, Candy, has been feeding her swell, along with Ginger’s mother-in-love, Diane, Martha and others.
Martha loves how everybody is spoiling her baby!
Martha’s granddaughters, Addie and Rissa, are tied up with ball, playing in this heat. Another granddaughter from Water Valley, Lilly Whitaker, spent a couple of nights with her. Martha said it was so good to see her.
Your writer got a surprise call from her BFF of Caledonia, Susan Bell, saying she was coming over for a visit. I got busy and cleaned up my spare bedroom and straightened up the house as best as I could.
I told her the other night when talking to her on the phone how much I enjoyed her visits. Usually we will sit in the den on our phones or reading. She is one that you don’t have to entertain all the time. She makes herself at home. I like that kind of stay-over company.
My daughter, Donna, came Friday and helped me clean house. I don’t know what I would do without her helping me. Of course she can work circles around me since she is 20 years younger. Oops, I almost told your age, Donald Sue.
