We had a great week at Mt. Liberty Church. On Saturday, we had an ice cream social with about 50 people attending. It was a great time of laughter and fellowship and we really appreciate everyone who came out and made homemade ice cream. There was about five different flavors. We’ve also had some birthdays this week, Lisa Goodwin, Anne Potts, and Coy Anna Stewart all turned a year older.
Bro. Grant Coffey brought a great message to us from Mark 14:26-31.
Have you ever disappointed someone?
Have you ever disappointed yourself?
Even with good intentions, we can disappoint. Peter had no intention of denying Jesus. He said he would die before betraying him. When he said it, he meant it. But Jesus knew what was to come. He knew the disciples would stumble after his arrest. We need to examine our hearts. We are so quick to judge Peter, but we disappoint God daily. Any time we sin, we disappoint. We knowingly disappoint God. We should really examine ourselves.
But there is hope. In Mark 16:6-7, we see the angel of the Lord say that Jesus is risen. He said to tell the disciplines, even Peter, to meet Jesus. Peter was forgiven. He was remembered by the Lord. We are too. God knows our hearts. We belong to Him. We should strive to glorify Him in all we do.
We had some visitors join us Sunday morning for service. Bro Larry Stacy and Sister Dorothy Stacy joined us with their family. Sam Watts came up from the coast to visit his parents and was able to join us.
Bro. Grant and Bro. Pat got the brick laid and the bell installed. Bro. Allen had the honor of ringing it before service Sunday. It was a great feeling of having the bell ringing again to announce church was beginning. It was the way of communication before the internet and telephone. We are so happy to have it back in order.
We invite you to join us if you’re looking for a home church. We have a lot of events in the works and the ladies are meeting to plan upcoming events. They also performed a special song Sunday morning, “I’ll Fly Away,” and did a wonderful job.
If you are looking for a church home, we would love to have you. Services begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. Mt. Liberty is located at 603 County Road 284 outside of Water Valley.
