Compassion Schedules Recertification Dates
WATER VALLEY – Compassion Ministries has scheduled dates in October for the annual recertification of all clients. The ministry has been helping meet the need of food insecurity in Yalobusha County and Lafayette County for over a quarter-century.
Compassion Ministries will be open on the following dates and times for clients to come early to re-certify for their monthly food boxes.
The pantry will be open during the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday October 7. For the ones that can, please come up to the parking lot of Compassion Ministries (where you pick up your boxes on Hwy. 7) on this date if you normally pick up your food on the first distribution day of the month.
Ministry volunteers will be set up by the roll up door for you to fill out your new applications and verify your qualifications for free food. Nobody is allowed inside the warehouse. You will remain in your car and someone will bring you an application. After you are finished filling out your application someone will come to your car and verify your qualifications for food assistance.
All clients will be required to show a photo ID as well as a proof of residence (utility bill, rent receipt etc.) and proof of income for all residents of the household. If these items are not shown, you will have to return home to get them or wait until a later date to be certified.
You will not be allowed to pick up your food box until Thursday October 10, at the regular scheduled time. Please have all your paperwork ready when you arrive and it will go a lot faster
The ministry is making the early certification dates available to their clients to avoid the long lines on Thursday. Clients will have to be re-certified to pick up your box on Thursday.
Compassion Ministries will offer the same early certification day on Monday, October 21, also from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., for their clients that normally pick up food on the second distribution. All the above requirements will still be in force.
Clients who do not re-certify on the early dates can still come on their regular distribution days and fill out the application., but you will have to wait in line and all requirements are still in effect.
Compassion Ministries scheduled the early re-certification dates to help make this process as effortless as possible. Clients are asked to be patient and have all your paperwork in order. Compassion Ministries volunteers will do their best to make it as fast as possible.
Anyone who has been given an emergency box of food without the proper paperwork since the last certification date will not be given a box until all qualifications have been met. Any client can come at any of the above dates and times to be certified.
Clients must be re-certified to receive a box after October 1.
