WATER VALLEY – Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) awarded a $10,000 grant to fund a five-station welding trailer for the Water Valley School District.
Water Valley Electric Department Superintendent Brandon Richardson said the grant funding comes from TVA’s Community Care Fund and local donors in the community provide matching funds.
“The Water Valley Electric Department selects a different organization each year Community Care Fund is funded and we are excited to help the school this year,” Richardson told the Herald.
Local donors Cayce and Michelle Washington of Valley Tool, Tommy and Liz Reynolds and Jacob Moorehead with Moorehead Off Road Engineering helped provide the matching funds for the project. The welding trailer will be utilized by students enrolled in the career and technical education program at the high school.
Richardson reported that the electric department’s business manager, Crystal Floyd helps with the grant application process each year.
