Vernon Paul Bratcher, Sr.
BATESVILLE – Vernon Paul Bratcher, Sr., age 77, left this life to join the Lord on November 30, 2024.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Donna Faye Bratcher. He is also survived by his sons, Vernon Paul Bratcher, Jr. and his wife, Wanda Bratcher, Edward Jay “EJ” Bratcher and his wife, Pam Bratcher, and Charles Dwayne Bratcher and his wife, Anita Bratcher.
He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Candice, Amanda, Dwayne, Ashley, Zane Surrette, and Riley Fortner, and his great-grandchildren, Kaydence, Isaac, Porter, Weston, Waylon, and Hudson.
Vernon was a faithful servant of Christ at First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville. He spent many years serving his community as an appliance repairman. Vernon proudly served in the United States Air Force.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, December 7 at First Faith Baptist Church, 3254 Sardis Lake Dr., Batesville. The family will begin receiving visitors at noon and the service will begin at 1 p.m.
George Allen Day
COFFEEVILLE – George Allen Day, 77, of Coffeeville passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born June 22, 1947 in Lucedale. George owned and operated Day’s Mobile Home Service for over 30 years and took great pride in instilling his strong work ethic in his boys. While George had friends far and near, he was happiest at home spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a Mason.
A time of remembrance was held Sunday, December 1, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada. Friends and family shared stories and happy times about George’s treasured life.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Delia Day; three sons, Michael Day(Brandy) of Carthage, Andy Day of Coffeeville and Ryan Day(Autumn) of Grenada; four sisters, Joan Fore and Mildred Brown of Lucedale, Dorothy Kittrell of Silas, AL and Violet Threadgill of Troy, AL; brother, Jimmy Day of Lucedale; six grandchildren, Tyler Birdwell, Russell, Colena, Gabe, Levi and Bella Day; mother-in-law, Lennie Bell; brothers-in-law, Butch Bell(Patsy) and Billy Bell; a host of nieces and nephews as well as a large group of young men who he was a father-figure to.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Iris Elaine Etheredge Easley; father, George Carl Day; and a daughter, Tawana Taylor Dees.
Paul Jolly Jr.
OAKLAND – Paul Jolly Jr., a beloved husband, father, and distinguished member of the Oakland community, passed away on Friday, November 22.
Born on December 14, 1951, in Greenwood to the late Paul Jolly, Sr., and Christine Cox, Paul dedicated 44 years of his life to the manufacturing industry, serving diligently at Modine, formerly Heatcraft in Grenada. A man of unwavering faith, he was a devout Christian and active member at Oakland Baptist Church.
Throughout his life, Paul found joy in the simple pleasures – fishing, football, and the soul-stirring melodies of bluegrass music. His commitment to his family was unmatched, leaving behind his loving wife of 21 years, Jane Jolly; and three cherished sons, Ian Jolly (Wrenn), Matthew Jolly (Jessica) and Daniel Jolly (Laura). His memory will forever be honored by his adoring sister, Lisa Dalton (Eddie), of Tupelo; and six beloved grandchildren.
In the presence of his family and friends, Paul Jolly was a pillar of strength and kindness, a beacon of light in times of darkness. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by three brothers, Graymond, Sam and Mark Jolly.
Paul was interred at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Seven Oaks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
