Happy New Year to all my faithful readers. I wish for all of you a wonderful, healthy and prosperous New Year!
Christian love and sympathy to the Sandy McLellan Sturdivant family of Tillatoba. Sandy passed away Wednesday, December 25, at Grenada Lake Medical Center. She was such a sweet lady with a heart of gold. You will be sorely missed by many, Sandy.
Faye Hartley said they had a wonderful Christmas. Nathan, Kristie, Rowland, Mary Brett and McLendon were here for the holiday – lots of food and presents. Annie, Saylor and Emily Box also came by and visited.
Tommy and Deborah McCool went to Greenville Wednesday afternoon when he got off work.
“Thought we would do something different this year because it just didn’t seem like Christmas since we wouldn’t be going to mom and dad’s. ( Ray and Opal Bell’s). We had a nice time but came home early so we could see the kids and grandchildren,” Deborah said.
Milton and Sadie Harper’s son, Ed Harper from Indianapolis, came home for Christmas. Ed had a job interview in Tupelo and his parents hope he gets the job and moves back south near them. They had all three kids here and really enjoyed it –Mit, Dea and grandson Tom; Sheila O’Bryant, and Ronald Love.
Everybody gained weight!
Ginger Harrison said they all had a blessed Christmas with family. She said it was also nice to have a little time off.
A friend of the late Jimmy Dukes, Ricky Nations and his wife Vickie, drove from Virginia to visit Diane and family.
“They stayed all day with me,” said Diane. “We had so many laughs about Jimmy and me. He would always call me grumpy Dukes. He really loved Jimmy. He always said Jimmy was his person to go to when he had something going on. His wife, Vickie, is the sweetest person and so humble. She just goes along with what he wants to do,” Diane added.
Diane and family had their family get-together at George Cossar Park and they all had a good time.
“Everybody was there and everybody was happy to see everybody and it was just a good visit. You know you better love your family now because when they’re gone, you still love them but there’s a memory there and it hurts,” Diane said.
Susan and Phillip Bell and grandsons, Wyatt and Jack from Caledonia, came Saturday and brought lunch. It was my first time to see the boys and I fell in love! Wyatt is four and Jack is two.
Durham all have birthdays on the 29th; and Jeff Tillman celebrates January 2. I pray you all had a great day,
I didn’t put a recipe this week because I thought all of you were sick of fancy food for a while. Back to stewed potatoes and hot buttered buttermilk cornbread! Don’t forget your traditional New Years food!
