Junior Auxiliary Confidence Kits are delivered to Coffeeville High with the help of (from left) SRO Billy Moore, JA Provisional member Dolores Turner and Coffeeville High School Principal LeRhonda Warren.
The Junior Auxiliary of Water Valley had so much fun at the Charity Ball this year. We had the ball at Fountain Square again, and the Saturday Night Fever theme had partygoers decked out in sequins, wide collars and bell bottoms. Attendees enjoyed food from the Horans, and danced the night away to the Sam Mooney Band. We are so appreciative of everyone who came to support this fundraiser, and we were able to call this evening a great success!
Also a wonderful success this year was the 2025 Junior Auxiliary Silent Auction. This year’s auction was an inspiring combination of community support from both the donors and the bidders. We had over 90 local businesses, artists, and sports organizations gift us with the fun prizes this year which we set up at the Charity Ball for the guests to enjoy viewing as they bid.
Our next Spring Fundraiser is Saturday! Please join us Saturday, March 1 for our annual 5k. This year’s race is the Trailblazer Color Run, which is the kind of race where you start out in a white shirt and then we throw paint all over you so you end up colorfully decorated. Please register through the link on our Junior Auxiliary Facebook page to come at 7:30 a.m. (race starts at 8 a.m.) on Saturday and walk, run, push a stroller, pull a wagon full of kiddos, and blaze your trail. You can also register the morning of the race, and there will be a raffle and medals for the winners!
Also scheduled Saturday is our Safety and Wellness Jamboree, Project Safe Kids. This event will be held downtown behind the Crappie sign under the magnolia tree from 9 to 11 a.m. just following the Trailblazer Race. Delegates from local businesses and organizations will have stations designed to teach health and wellness through fun and memorable activities. Kids can expect prizes for completing each activity, and we will have stations with game wardens, school counselors, Base Camp Coding Academy, Dermatology Associates of Oxford, Water Valley Parks Department, Water Valley Police, Water Valley Fire Department, and C Spire. Come on out and enjoy this free event on Saturday morning!
Just around the corner on April 5 this year will be our annual Watermelon Pageant. We will hold the pageant at the high school again, and encourage all participants to sign up before March 1 to get the early bird pageant fee of $40. After March 1, the fee to sign up will be $50 and the deadline to participate is March 22. There is a sibling discount of $5 off for two kids, $10 off for three kids, and $15 off for three kids. Full contest rules and link to register online are available through our Facebook event page, and please plan to attend at 4 p.m. on April 5 to see all of our lovely contestants shine in this year’s pageant!
Next up for sweet things to do this spring: mark your calendars for April 19. We will hold our annual Easter Egg Hunt at Crawford Sports Complex at 10:30 a.m. Bring your baskets, bring your friends, and bring your camera for an opportunity to take photos with the Easter Bunny! More details to come, and please remember that this is an event when the whole thing takes place quickly and if you are late you could miss the whole hunt. Be sure to get there in plenty of time!
Our provisional class of 2024 developed and launched a new service project with your support. These ladies collected hygiene items and put them together into Confidence Kits, and we were able to distribute these this week to our Yalobusha County communities through Water Valley High School and Coffeeville High School. These kinds of projects would not be possible without the support of all of our fundraising efforts and local support, and we are so thankful to do this work in a place that gives back so much.
