WATER VALLEY – If you’ve strolled through downtown Water Valley lately, you might have noticed something missing—those lovely trees that used to sit in the planters. But don’t worry, they haven’t gone far! The Water Valley Town and Country Garden Club has given them a new home at the Civic Auditorium, where they’ll be part of the fresh landscaping to complement the building’s renovation.
Moving trees isn’t exactly a small task, but the club’s planter committee, led by Rita Burks—with a big assist from her husband Jody, who brought along a tractor and trailer—was up for the challenge. With plenty of teamwork from club members and some careful digging, the trees were successfully relocated to the Civic Auditorium, where they’ll have plenty of space to grow and thrive. Meanwhile, Martha Rogers, chairman of the Auditorium committee, and her husband Allen made sure the planters and their new trees had exactly what they needed—50 bags of 50 lb. Baccto, to be exact.
A huge thank-you goes to the hardworking crew from the Water Valley City Street Department! These folks put in countless hours keeping our town looking its best, and they went above and beyond to help with this project. Honestly, with all the work they do for beautification, we might as well make them honorary Garden Club members.
This project is just another example of the Garden Club’s dedication to keeping Water Valley looking its best. Rather than removing the trees or discarding them, they were given a new purpose —and now, the Civic Auditorium has a fresh, beautiful landscape to match its renovations.
