French Commits To Crowley’s Ridge College

Water Valley High School senior Maverick French committed to Crowley’s Ridge College last Thursday after receiving a golf scholarship. He is pictured at the signing in the gym with his parents (front row) Jennifer French and Jason French; and (back row, from left) Water Valley High School golf coach Steve Lindsey, Crowley’s Ridge head golf coach Adam Meeker, and brother Shane French.
French was also offered a walk-on spot on the baseball team and will be playing both sports at Crowley’s Ridge College in Paragould, Ark. next year. He was also offered a baseball scholarship to attend Blue Mountain Christian University, but he picked Crowley’s Ridge College where he can play both sports.
Coach Lindsey reported French had a strong senior season, getting better and better. French shot his best score during the north half competition, and advanced to the state championship in Starkville to complete as a single.
“This opportunity for Maverick shows our players what you can do if you put in the work,” Lindsey said. “There are a lot of colleges that love to have a golf player with a mid-70s score.”
