Judith Marie Landreth Hill

COFFEEVILLE – Mrs. Judith Marie Landreth Hill, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at her daughter’s residence.

Born October 13, 1950, in Baldwyn, she was the daughter of the late John Hyde Landreth and Jessie Blanche Mabry Landreth. Marie worked for a number of years at Holley Carburetor in Water Valley and later as a home health nurse’s aide. Above all, she was a devoted farmer’s wife and a loving mother who always placed her family’s needs first.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and tending both her flower and vegetable gardens. A faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, Marie served for many years as the church pianist, using her musical gifts to glorify the Lord and bless her church family. She will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, and the love she poured into every part of her life.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 29, at New Hope Baptist Church near Coffeeville, with interment following in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Richard Bennett, Danny Dorris, Dennis Dorris, Kyley Holloway, Dereck Redwine, and Ray Schmitz III. McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Brooks of Scobey; her son, Jeremy (RaeDena) Hill of Tillatoba; three grandchildren, Ashlyn (Drew) Williams, Lancaster Hill, and Preston Brooks; and a great-grandson, Remington Williams.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John T. Hill.

Michael Gene Jaco

TILLATOBA – Michael Gene Jaco, 55, passed away Wednesday morning, August 27, 2025, at Diversicare Nursing Home in Batesville.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 30, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with interment following at Sardis Lake Baptist Church Cemetery.

Michael was born March 15, 1970, in Sardis to Terry Gene Jaco and Dorothy Jean Bradley Martin. He was a cherished member of the Batesville community and worked as a repairman for TNT Appliances, where he earned the respect of both colleagues and clients.

He had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing and grabbling, and he found joy in hunting. These pursuits reflected his appreciation for nature and the simple pleasures of life. He also attended Shiloh Cowboy Church in Coffeeville, where he made lasting friendships.

Michael is survived by two sisters, Terra Ann (Larry) Payne of Duck Hill and Teresa Marie Bailey of Booneville; two children, Kylee Jaco and Kendall Jaco, both of Independence; two nieces, Courtney Buice and Ashley Cummins (Kyle); two nephews, Dillon Holland (Emilee) and Walker Holland (Dana); along with numerous aunts, uncles, great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Terry Gene Jaco and Dorothy Jean Martin; and by a nephew, Dustin Buice.

Michael will be remembered for his loving spirit, unwavering work ethic, and profound appreciation for the great outdoors. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Robert Douglas Riley

WATER VALLEY – Robert Douglas “Doug” Riley, 60, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Born March 3, 1965, he was the son of the late Robert Smith Riley and Martha Riley. A lifelong resident of Water Valley, Doug was a 1983 graduate of Water Valley High School and later earned his associate’s degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Doug was known for his love of football, especially the Florida Gators, and for his spontaneous spirit. He enjoyed traveling, often taking off on long drives in his Jeep with the windows down, soaking in the open air. Doug was also known as the “King of Irish Goodbyes.”

Above all, Doug was devoted to his family. He cherished time spent with his daughter and grandchildren and could always be found cheering from the sidelines — from Destiny’s gymnastics meets to Haisley’s cheer events. His family was the center of his life, and his warmth, kindness, and humor left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Martha Riley; his daughter, Destiny (Robert) Griffin; two grandchildren, Haisley and Ava Riley Griffin; his beloved dog, Abby; and a host of extended family and friends, including Hanna, Austin, and Hudson Potts. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Delynn Riley.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 29, 2025, at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley with Bro. Binnie Turnage officiating.

Patricia Ruth Sansom

WATER VALLEY – Patricia “Pat” Sansom, 88, of Water Valley, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, in Union, Missouri.

She is survived by four sons, James (Linda) Sansom of Leslie, Mo., Tom Sansom of Union, Mo., Bruce Sansom of Memphis, Tenn., and Alex (Kim) Sansom of Union, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert McClaflin (Bev) of Florida; one sister, Terryl Viner (Tim) of Memphis, Tenn.; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ruth (Storie) McClaflin; her husband, James A. Sansom; her daughter, Janet Koen; one son, Gary Sansom; and her stepmother, Virginia McClaflin.

The family received friends Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 3, at 10 a.m., also at Seven Oaks.
