Ann Tipler Watson
SACRAMENTO – Ann Tipler Watson, a remarkable Mississippi native, passed away peacefully Jan. 27, 2026, at the age of 104, with her daughter at her side.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of more than 45 years, Jack Watson, who died in 1991.
Born June 18, 1921, in Water Valley, Ann served as administrative assistant to Congressman Jamie Whitten for more than 35 years. Following her retirement in 1971, she and Jack embraced adventure, spending two years living in Portugal before returning to Oxford.
An avid bridge player, Ann formed lasting friendships around card tables and conversation. In 2013, she moved to Sacramento, Calif., to be near her daughter, Michele McCormick, and son-in-law, retired Army Colonel Don McCormick.
Ann was a model for aging and an inspiration to all who knew her. She remained active, intellectually alert and engaged in her friendships and activities until her final days.
In lieu of flowers or cards, memorials may be made to the Gertrude Ford Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Mississippi.

Ann and I shared a birthday: June 18.
