Saturday was a special time and a great time for little Waylon Dukes Jr. (Dub) to celebrate his second birthday with family and friends. The theme was construction equipment and workers, and it said, “Stop the traffic coming through, Dub is turning two!”
All the children were wearing yellow hard hats. I saw a couple of the ladies wearing hard hats, too. Lisa Havens and her sister-in-law, Brenda Stroup, were having as much fun as the little ones sporting their yellow hard hats. Holly really knows how to throw a fun party. The decorations and food were outstanding.
Kirsti McClanahan and her children, Liam, Fynlee and Remington, visited Bobby Joe McClanahan and other relatives recently.
Lila Myrick visited Shannon Manzo on Thursday. Lila said she’s doing better.
Brandon McClanahan visited his dad, Freddie Wayne McClanahan, and other family members a few days ago.
Tommy and Deborah McCool had an 85th birthday party for Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum. All of her grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, son Michael and Natalie Bowden came, along with her two sisters from Leland, Patsy Welch and Dorothy Utz. Tommy and Debbie went down and picked them up, and they stayed two nights with them. They all had a great time. Alice enjoyed herself very much. Two of their cousins from Walls, Donnie McKenzie and daughter Kim Castle, came to the party also.
My goodness gracious, says Martha Box, where did this week go?
“Week my foot, where did this year go? I had to pull out fall colors to dress for church Sunday. Busy, busy this week, but hey, we got here! It’s been fast and good. Enjoyed coffee breaks at my house Monday and Thursday. Linda and Harvey Darby and Kenny Parker said the sweet tater cakes I made were delicious,” Martha said.
Martha also met her daughter, Candy, and great-grand Princess Millie Kate at Pope for supper prior to an exceptional revival meeting. Brothers Ronnie Wortham and Jesse Wortham took sister Joyce Stevens and Martha to Magnolia’s for a happy birthday to Joyce meal.
Martha enjoyed so much the Kendall reunion Saturday at Grenada Lake.
“Spectacular band put the rhythm in my soul and toes! It was so good to see so many family members have such a great time together!” Martha said.
Celebrating birthdays this week are: Katelyn McClanahan on the 19th; Garry Myrick, Aline Denley and Diana White on the 21st; Rebecca McCullar, Kenneth Rowsey and Donald Wayne Bloodworth on the 22nd; Jay Mullins on the 23rd; Bubba Howe, Sue Weir and Jenny Lou Chambers on the 24th; Don Bowman on the 25th; Bobby Joe McClanahan on the 27th; Karol Knowles on the 28th; George Biddle, Sandy Beavers and Ed Meek on the 29th; and Kay Bridges and Rina Chaney on the 30th. I hope all of you have a wonderful day celebrating!
