Cossar State Park’s Putt Putt Golf Course Has Fresh Look

Cossar State Park’s Putt Putt Golf Course Has Fresh Look

ENID Lake – Officials at George Payne Cossar State Park celebrated the grand reopening of the 18-hole putt-putt golf course Friday following an extensive renovation. Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) Repair and Restoration Administrator Paul Pullen worked on the project off and on for several months replacing timbers, installing new carpet along with refurbishing some of the obstacles on the course and replacing others.
Pullen carefully engineered obstacles that include the “Tallahatchie River Bridge,” a ping pong hole, loops, ramps and tunnels. The encompassing fence was also painted, along with the old concession stand, giving the entire operation a facelift. The course is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week, weather permitting. The cost is $2 per person, plus $4 admission to the park.
“We are working to do everything we can to promote the park and upgrading this course will be a boost for us,” reported the park’s new director, Joe Pettis.
“It’s been a good project and a much-needed project,” added Pullen, who works across the state on repairs and restorations at MDWFP’s 23 state parks.
