Police Field Call About Clown On Central Street

WATER VALLEY – An apparent clown citing on Central Street Saturday night prompted a call to the police department.

Water Valley Police Chief Mike King reported his department responded at 9:18 p.m. but did not make contact with anyone fitting the description of a clown. King also said kids in the neighborhood pursued the clown after calling police. 

The sighting has been exasperated on social media, as one poster said the next sighting will be “shoot to kill,” an apparent over reaction to national reports of people dressed in clown costumes lurking around neighborhoods and homes. The sighting also made headlines on the front page of the Oxford Eagle Tuesday morning.

King had simple advice on the matter.

“Certainly if anybody has any fear about a clown sighting they should call the police,” the chief reported.
