WATER VALLEY – Cooler evening temps create thoughts of football games, hot soups and chili, beautiful fall colors, pumpkins, and holiday events.  

The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is promoting another Fall Decorating Contest to encourage our businesses to dress up their outdoor storefronts and windows.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three winners and out-of-town judges will make the selections.  

Use any type decorations you like: nature’s own hay bales, corn shocks, pumpkins and gourds, colorful mums, cotton, and more.  Handmade crafts might include scarecrows, wreaths, or painted items. You may even choose to incorporate wheel barrows, rocking chairs, barrels, etc., in your decorating.  The sky’s the limit!  

Last year’s event made our already-great-looking town look even better, and the city received numerous compliments.  Feel free to start decorating at any time, right away or by the first of October. Judging will take place during the last week of October, and prizes will be awarded during Business Holiday Open House on Saturday, November 12.
