Paul Thorn Returns To Old School Theater On May 4

Paul Thorn will return to Melonvine Marketplace on May 4.

Foster Music and Arts and the Melonvine Marketplace are proud to present the return of Paul Thorn and his band to the Old School Theater on Friday, May 4. Nearly two years ago, Paul Thorn helped kick off the Old School Theater at its sold-out grand opening. Now they return with special guests Alice Drinks the Kool Aid.

Paul Thorn is one of the leading acts in North Mississippi, boasting more than 50,000 Facebook fans. He fills auditoriums around the country, tours widely and is respected around the world as a singer and songwriter and a formidable performer. The Tupelo native has been pleasing crowds for years with his muscular brand of roots music – bluesy, rocking, and thoroughly Southern.

Thorn has just released his new album “Don’t Let the Devil Ride.” He is currently touring the country, playing some of his most popular songs along with selections from this gospel-influenced record, which features special guests such as the Blind Boys of Alabama, the McCrary Sisters, Bonnie Bishop and the Preservation Hall Horns.

Special guest Alice Drinks the Koolaid is a blues-based Chicago indie rock band founded in a Park Ridge basement in 2014 as a creative outlet for three life-long musician friends — drummer Jim Widlowski, bassist Alan Berliant and vocalist/ guitarist Tony Magee, who beer/music fans will recognize as the founder of Lagunitas Brewing Company.

The Old School Theater is a revitalized 250-seat school auditorium with brand new stage, sound, lights, and seating located inside the Melonvine Marketplace on the south side of Water Valley at 817 South Main Street. Foster Music & Arts regularly presents both national and regional music acts with the stated mission of “cultivating the best live music in North Mississippi.

All shows at the Old School Theater are sponsored by the The Caryl Company and the Melonvine Marketplace. The Paul Thorn show is also sponsored by the generous support of Turnage Drug Store of Water Valley.

Show time is 7:30. Doors open at 6:30. Tickets are $25.00. All seats are General Admission.
