Second Base Camp Class Graduates

Base Camp Coding Academy co-founder Glen Evans was among well-wishers congratulating the nine Base Camp graduates including Shedlia Freeman following graduation Saturday. The students completed the program designed to train students to be software developers in 12 months.

WATER VALLEY – Nine students graduated from Base Camp Coding Academy during a commencement held Saturday afternoon. The Class of 2018 is the second group to graduate from the year-long program designed to train students to be software developments in one year. The students averaged two jobs offers each.

The graduates and their future employers include: 

• Lizeth Contreras – Bruce High School – C Spire;

• Alexandra Fortner – Bruce High School – C Spire;

• Osvaldo Gaucin  – Pontotoc High School – C Spire;

• Shedlia Freeman, Jr. – Water Valley High School – CoreLogic;

• Valente Gonsalez – Lafayette High School– National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering at the University of Mississippi;

• Edgar Guzman – Water Valley High School – C Spire;

• Michael Shelton – Pontotoc High School – CoreLogic;

• Jose Vargas – Bruce High School – Still weighing job options; and

• Jo’Tavious Smith – Charleston High School – C Spire. 

The students are awarded a 100 percent scholarship thanks to generous donors who support the school. Donors recognized at the graduation include Diane and Dickie Scruggs, C-Spire Foundation, Paige and Glen Evans, Core Logic, FedEx, Northwest Mississippi College, The John N. Palmer Foundation and Renasant Bank.
