Weather Wasn’t The Culprit In Saturday’s Outage
The six-man crew with the city’s electric department worked 18 hours to repair broken poles Saturday night and Sunday morning.

City Electric Department Manager Andy Hall reported the damaged guideline created a domino effect that downed three poles on Court Street and at Davidson Elementary School. The damage created a tangled mess that took the six-man crew 18 hours to repair. Hall said a vehicle may have been the culprit in the damaged guideline.
“We started working around 8:15 Saturday night, worked through the night and had the repairs made at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon,” Hall told the Herald. He said that power was restored to residences in the area approximately an hour after the outage and during the rest of the repair time only the elementary school was without electricity.
He also said the repair was delayed for over an hour around 2 a.m. Sunday morning after a lightning storm popped up and the crew had to pull off. The lightning also created a small outage on Hwy. 315, which was also repaired during the night.
Ironically, the crew was already scheduled to work Sunday morning during a scheduled outage at BorgWarner. Hall said the maintenance work was scheduled from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. but had to be postponed.
