WATER VALLEY – Marvin O’Neal Buck was indicted by the grand jury in the Second Judicial District for three counts of the sale of cocaine. Each count stems from alleged offenses in 2021. In count one, Buck, also known as Tiny, is charged with selling less than two grams of cocaine to a confidential informant on October 19, 2021. In Count 2, Buck is charged with the same offense from a transaction that occurred on October 26, 2021, again selling cocaine to a confidential information. In Count Three, the same crime was allegedly committed on November 3, 2021.
Buck was indicted under the state’s habitual offender statute in each count. He was previously convicted in Yalobusha County Circuit Court for sale of cocaine in 1999 and again in 2010.
The indictments are among the first served from the last grand jury session in Water Valley on Dec. 1. The grand jury handed down indictments on 42 true bills. The indictments remain sealed until served on the defendants by law enforcement officers.
Others indicted from the Dec. 1 grand jury include Melissa Cook, one count of embezzlement (see related story, page 1); and Edward O’Neal Sims Jr., six counts for vehicle burglary.
Sims was arrested by the Water Valley Police Department in June following a string of alleged auto burglaries in the city. According to the indictment, all six of the counts stem from a crime spree on May 21. Sims allegedly broke into a 2015 Impala owned by Brittany Williams, a 2014 Kia owned by Jackie Burns, a 2009 Honda owned by Amanda Izzard, a 1991 Chevrolet truck and 2017 Jeep Wrangler, both owned by Rachel Campbell, and a 2006 Ford F-150 owned by Bradley Webb.
Police Chief Jason Mangrum previously told the Herald that home security cameras helped his officers identify Sims as the suspect.
