School will be starting before you know it. Buses will be running up and down the road in front of our house. I love sitting on the front porch and waving to them in the afternoon as they are on their way home.
Congratulations to Cody and Beth Deloach on the arrival of their precious baby boy, John Beldon. John Beldon DeLoach was born July 23, and weighed seven pounds, one ounce and was 19 inches long. Big sister, Hallie Bren is so thrilled over her little baby brother.
Mike Crawford visited Bobby Joe McClanahan and brought him a bushel of peas. He was so tickled about that. I would have been tickled too!
Tommy and Debbie McCool went to Leland Saturday afternoon. Debbie had some things to take to Tommy’s sister. They had a short but good visit with both sisters and then headed home.
Tommy and son-in- law, Jason Beavers, got all the mowing done at home and at Deborah’s dad’s Sunday afternoon. They had to go to Jackson Tuesday for Debbie’s doctor appointment in Flowood. I hope you get a good report, Deborah.
Martha Box says she is a blessed girl. So many calls, text, gifts and wishes.
“All for the birthday I was trying to skip,” Martha said.
She reported a wonderful gathering and supper by the kids.
“They perked up with that Keurig coffee maker. And again celebrated with Betty Mcguire’s birthday Saturday eve. Wow so many ‘happys’ for a week now. And here I was going to hang onto 49,” Martha said.
She also enjoyed church at Tillatoba Sunday.
“What a wonderful message,” says Martha. “Jesus is the only way to our Father GOD! And so enjoyed the music, Eddie Simmon’s voice touched me so that even I sang! And you know I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. Lovely time with our neighbors.”
Martha met her sister, sister, Joyce, for lunch at the Hut. They ran into more family and friends and had a great outing.
Martha extends thanks to Ken Dunning for taking care of her yard, adding he is such a great worker and all he wants is the cakes she bakes for him.
Your writer celebrated David’s birthday Sunday meat loaf, corn casserole and mashed potatoes, his request for lunch. It was my first time to make a corn casserole and it turned out perfect. Donna brought a coconut pie for David and a chocolate pie for me. (Just cause she loves me). Bradley brought him a chocolate chip cake. Brad, Frankie and Bradley joined us after church.
Bradley Holliday spent Saturday night with John Luke Rose. I bet they stayed up late and played video games.
“It doesn’t take long to get used to being at home doing things on your own time,” said Ginger Harrison, who goes back to work on August 5. She reported a great weekend, and her son, Josh, did a great job singing and playing in church Sunday.
Happy anniversary to Greg and Karol Knowles, who celebrate August 6. I pray you two love birds have many more years to celebrate!
We start our August birthdays with Laurie Craig Cordell on the 2nd; son, Logan Deck, and Lee Ann Howe celebrate on the 6th; Cheryl Franklin on the 7th; and Priscilla Tillman and Benjamin Tillman share a birthday on the 8th.
I hope all of you have a great day celebrating your special day.
Thought for the day…..Life is short, smile while you still have teeth.
