Dear Editor,
I don’t spend much time in the middle of town, just passing through from the Local Express gas station (come for the fuel, stay for the view) to Larsons where a diesel truck brings me my Blue Bell.
Today oddly shaped things come into view passing between the two. They are electric car chargers presumably for the electric car enthusiasts filling the Pocket Park every day.
Neighbors find their inclusion on Main Street distracting at best.
But now that Elonia Musk, Mr Electric Car himself, is the new head of the Republican Party I expect to see more chargers, I mean a lot. So many, that some of us might prefer a porta potty in their place, especially us older Vallians.
So the question is how to make them less of an eyesore.
I’m not sure they are ugly, I think the design is supposed to be so blah, nobody can object and porta potties aren’t supposed to stand out. However, Water Valley is not a bland town.
My folk, like half the families in Alcorn County had a little sawmill powered by a chopped Model T fueled by gasoline. I’m sure y’all lost a few trees here too. So maybe disguising them as giant stumps or life size statues of my great grandfather. Not really all that local though.
So I suggest an alteration to the chargers’ design.
