Our son, Logan Deck, surprised us with a visit Wednesday and he came bearing three Zaxby’s chicken dinners. Logan lives at Gluckstadt and was on his way to a work meeting in Marks.

Friday afternoon we had another surprise visit, Malenda Meacham of Hernando popped in. When Malenda was in law school and Rob, her husband, was in Med school in Jackson, they would stop by on their way home and I would fix them grilled cheese sandwiches. I always tried to make sure I had the fixings to make them. Malenda ended up being the first woman elected mayor of Hernando. After her term was over, she opened her own law firm and still runs it today.

The pain from the surgery was a constant feeling of a chopping ax in an angry giant’s hands landing all over the foot, reports Martha Box. She is still recovering from foot surgery, and reports it is healing.

“I am blessed, my kids, my grands, and my brother and sister are spoiling me. They feed me well while doing my chores. Friends visiting and prayers seeing me through. Thank heavens for all that love,” Martha said. “Missing church, but the Presence of Our LORD is where we are always! But I do love going to church with our loves.”

Your writer’s visitors Sunday from Grenada were Brad, Frankie and Bradley Holliday and Donna Garripoli. I’m thinking I need to put Donna on salary. Ha!

My up-the-road neighbor, Tommy McCool, told his wife to tell me it is going to snow! And to tell me it is COLD OUTSIDE. I already knew about the cold, but not about the snow.

Deborah McCool said Tommy was off work Sunday, so they went by and got his sister, Alice Kellum, and motored down to Leland. They attended a birthday party of his great, great niece in Greenville. She turned two years old.

David took your writer up to see our great grandchildren, Haven Rose and Waylon, Jr., Sunday afternoon. They were sleeping when we got there, but with me wiggling a few little toes, they woke up and I got to hold the baby and play with Haven Rose.

Happy Birthday to Carson Boyle, who turned 14 on the 18th; Angela Robinson and Nathan Hartley on the 22nd; and Terri Dukes and her nephew, Logan Rose, along with Tina Byford Smitherman and Gwen Graham all share their birthday the 29th. May you all have a blessed day celebrating your special day!

Thought for the day…..You never fail until you stop trying.
