Congratulations to Joshua Harrison for being listed on Northwest Mississippi Community college’s President’s list. Those included on this list are full time students who completed it with a grade point average of 3.75 to 4.00 for the fall semester.

Another college student I’m proud of is Benton Donahue of Madison. Benton was named to University of Mississippi’s Fall 2024 Chancellors Honor Roll list. He is studying to earn a Bachelor of Music degree. Benton is the son of Logan and Brandy Deck of Gluckstadt.

Our sweet niece, Maci Mclendon Scott, of West Point visited with us Saturday morning. Maci had stopped by the cemetery and put flowers on her Mamaw’s (Elizabeth McLendon) grave and on her daddy’s (Steve McLendon) grave.

Martha Box said she has not put on her face or fixed her hair since Jan 6 due to surgery.
If you saw me now!!,” Martha said. “ I am in less pain, but tied down for a long, long time. Thank heavens for all my family and friends who have SPOILED me! And yes I am eating all that good food they feed me! Exercising in a sit down position.”

I know you are right, Martha. I’m suppose to be doing three sets a day and, as they say, “It ain’t easy!”

Diane Dukes went to two birthday parties at Jolly Jumpers in Grenada Sunday. One was for Joanna Pullen, Sam and Anna Pullen’s daughter. The other was for Logan Rose, Jake and Roseann Rose’s son.

“Both are my great grandchildren” said Diane.

Diane enjoyed seeing a lot of people at the parties. She saw Frankie Holliday and her family and most of my grandchildren. Joanna had four great grandmothers there – Diane Dukes, Nancy Chambers, Diann Vance and Elizabeth Whitten.

Joanna’s fourth birthday was January 11. Logan’s birthday is January 29th and he was celebrating his sixth. Logan shares a birthday with his Aunt Terri Dukes.

Diane also got to visit with Kim Morris and Cody Fields and little Riley Ann of Cleveland. They all had a great time.

Diane reported Cossar State Park will have bingo on February 19. They have bingo every third Wednesday of the month for people 55 and older.

Rowland Hartley is on a roll. This young man killed another hog. That’s what I call putting meat on the table, Rowland.

I remember when I was about your age, my daddy would put hot scalding water in a big barrel and put the hog in there so it would be easier to skin. And the homemade cracklings were the best. With daddy being a butcher, we always had choice fresh meat.
Faye Hartley carried her granddaughters, Mary Brett and McLendon, to Batesville shopping Saturday. I know you girls picked out some pretty things.

Starting out with our February birthdays are John Lippincott, who will celebrate the 1st; and Amanda Hailey and Benton Donahue celebrate the 2nd. May you all have a blessed day.

Happy anniversary to Barry and Doris Hoop on the 3rd. I’m not sure which one but I know Barry will fix Doris up!

Thought for the day… I’m proud to announce I have completed the first item on my bucket list. I have the bucket.
