WATER VALLEY – The list of candidates who have submitted qualifying paperwork to run for elected positions in Water Valley has increased to six.
City Clerk Vivian Snider reported Thomas U. Reynolds has qualified for mayor, Herbert Alan Rogers has qualified for alderman-at-large, Joe Magnuson for ward one alderman, Fred Earl White for ward two alderman, Grant H. Thompson for ward three alderman and Nicole M. Folson for ward 4 alderman. All six candidates have qualified to run as independent candidates.
Candidates can also qualify to run on the Democratic ticket as the Yalobusha County Democratic Executive Committee executed an agreement with the city to certify candidates.
Independent candidates must obtain 50 signatures from registered voters in the ward they are running, or city-wide for mayor or alderman-at-large.
The Democratic Primary Election will be held on April 1 and the General Election will be held on June 3.
The deadline to qualify is Friday, Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.
