Thank you Jesus for protecting us from the bad storms through the day and night on Saturday. It was hard to believe all the damage that it did around our little community when we woke up to a beautiful sunshiny day Sunday.
Bull Bottom Farms in Elliott will be brought back to life. So many depend on this place for their children and grown ups too. They are going to need a lot of help rebuilding, and I’m sure they will welcome your help.
Cossar State Park will have their Easter Egg Hunt on April 12. There will be a Easter basket raffle for $2 per chance They will also have baskets to be given away as prizes. Hot dogs chips and drinks will be served!
Conner Dukes will celebrate his birthday March 29.
Joanna Pullen and Haven Rose Dukes spent the day with their great grandmother, Diane Dukes, Friday. They were out for spring break.
Milton Harper is doing good, report his wife, Sadie. He had a check up with Dr DiPaolo Monday and I hope she recommends home health therapy so he can come home from Charleston and be more comfortable. I told Sadie when you get our age, no bed feels as good as your own.
David and I visited Roy McCain, who is at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford Thursday following my doctor’s visit. We also got to visit with Joan McCain and their son, Cliff. Joan and Roy are from Drew.
My up-the-road neighbor, Deborah McCool, said nothing going on with them this past week. They are gonna try to take a couple vacation days before too much longer.
Rowland Hartley killed a turkey last Saturday and Monday during the youth hunt. Rowland, now we all know where we can eat Thanksgiving dinner!
Martha Box is still down with her foot up mostly. Piddling a few minutes from wheelchair, then has to get that foot elevated. She is still healing after foot surgery and hopes to get the okay to stand on it during a check-up on April 3. Martha said she has been blessed to have her family taking such good care of her. Her sister, Joyce, took her to lunch Wednesday. They also went to Walls in Grenada, and she enjoyed riding her wheelchair all over the store.
“I wore my self out turning those wheels that much,” Martha added.
Martha and Brother Jesse went to Holcomb to shop at Newton’s Chop Shop She got another wheelchair workout while finding quite a few bargain grocery items.
“I did have to throw my granddaughters, Rissa and Lilly, on the floor in hall as the tornado threatened and hail hit us. They went to sleep while I rode my wheelchair all about to keep them safe!” Martha added.
Candy Box came by the other night and visited Martha they enjoyed some great conversation. Sweet baby girl Ginger came by visiting Saturday night. Martha’s grandson, Josh, came by and brought some good food from Diane Nail Hill.
“I tell you they do feed me well,” Martha said. “But mostly I am tied down Crocheting!”
I’m trying to crochet some myself, Martha, but my eyes won’t let me do much at a time. I may have to give it up all together.
Happy birthday to Greg Lukacs, my daughter-in-love, Brandy Deck, Richard Ross and Lisa Havens, who all celebrate the 19th; Curtis Turner, Tristian Taylor and Amanda Ayers Gunn celebrate on the 21st; Daisy Burlison the 23rd; and Janet Baker Buice the 24th. I hope you all have a great day!
Thought for the day: Whoever ate my fries while I was sliding down the slide at McDonald’s… Not funny, grow up.
