Mt. Liberty News
It’s been another beautiful week at Mt Liberty. Other than the allergies, spring is great and I keep my door open all day letting the freshness in. I love this time of year. Even with the storms and pollen, it’s still great. This week is especially great – this is Holy Week. This is the week that changed the game for Christians. We’re getting ready for Easter. We will have our Easter service Sunday at Mt. Liberty with a dinner and egg hunt for the kiddos.
Bro. Grant Coffey brought a great message to start off Holy Week on Palm Sunday. We started in Matthew 21:1-11. Throughout human history there have been a lot of firsts. We go through firsts in our lives. The type of celebration of Jesus on Palm Sunday was also a first. The crowd and the feeling was electric. Jesus coming in on the donkey was prophesied over 500 years before.
Zechariah 9:9 tells us the prophecy of Jesus coming into Jerusalem. If Jesus had not come in riding the donkey and the colt it would not have been a true prophecy. Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies. He was the king bringing salvation. Per the account of John in John 12:12-15, the multitude of people that ran to meet him cut palm trees crying, “Hosanna, Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord.”
This is why it’s called Palm Sunday. This starts off the week when death was defeated. We get to live on in the glory of God eternally. It all started with Jesus riding in on a donkey on Palm Sunday.
After church Sunday, we met at the fellowship hall to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bro. Gary and Mrs. Anne Potts. We had a great time celebrating both of them, especially as they had family come in that was a big surprise. It was a beautiful turn out with a little over 60 people who showed up. We really appreciate everyone who joined in.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week. If you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us at Mt. Liberty. Services begin at 11 a.m. We also invite you to spend Easter with us this Sunday and bring the little ones for an egg hunt. The church is located at 603 CR 284, Water Valley.
