National Day Of Prayer Will Be Observed On May 1

The 2025 local observance of the National Day of Prayer will be held at noon at the flagpole at the Crawford Sports Complex in Water Valley on Thursday May 1. Originally established by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Harry Truman, this year marks the 74th annual observance.

The tradition predates the formal establishment, with the Continental Congress setting aside days of prayer in the 1770s. The practice was revived in the 1950s, partly in response to the Korean War, and the law designating the first Thursday in May as the annual observance was passed in 1988.  If you are thankful to be an American and want to join in a time of prayer , thanks, and praise to our God please plan to join us.

Mayor Tommy Reynolds will welcome everyone and introduce the program.  Local pastors will lead in prayers for different areas of life that we experience as Americans.
This year’s theme is “Pour out to the God of Hope and be filled” from Romans 15:13.  Hope you can be there.
