Welcome back to Inside the Blue and White! It’s been another big week at Water Valley High School, and we are finally creeping into the last month of the school year. We are officially less than 20 days out from graduation, and the senior class is wrapping up their school work, and feeling the emotions that come with closing one chapter and preparing to begin another.

Seven students in Ashley Watts Early Childhood Education II Class earned certification after passing the PAC test.
Seniors will have their traditional final walk-through at the elementary and high school on May 15, before their final awards ceremony. They will be presented with their various cords and stoles, along with celebrating their future plans – whether they’re heading off to college, starting careers, joining the military, or exploring other meaningful paths.
Awards for seventh through 11th graders will be presented on May 13th, starting at 5:30 in the evening. Family members are invited to attend and celebrate the academic success, leadership, and improvement shown by our students this school year.
The junior class prepared for their U.S. history state exam on Monday. They traveled to the Base Camp Coding Academy campus to review specific units that they would face on the test the following day. When they got back to campus, they were treated to lunch by Mike and Tonya Eubanks, Yolanda Ramsey, and the BTC Old Fashioned Grocery! The students and faculty thank these community members for supporting us during such an important academic moment.
Track and Field is traveling to state, representing WVHS athletics one last time for this school year.
Madison Bryant, a junior at WVHS, has found major success in the National Garden Club’s Youth Essay Contest. Madison has won at both the state and Deep South levels in the contest with her essay, “Corporate Taking Accountability,” which answered the question, “Is Recycling Plastics the Answer to Our Plastic Disposal Problem?” Representing the Water Valley Town and Country Garden Club, Madison first won at the state level with the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, earning a $100 prize and a certificate! She then went on to win at the Deep South level, competing against students from Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee, and was awarded another certificate. Madison’s essay will now move on to the national competition.
Mrs. Ashley Watts Early Childhood Education II class had seven students pass their Pre-Professional Assessment Certification (PAC) test, receiving a three year certification. With a 78 percent pass rate, the class outperformed previous years, showing growth and excellence in a vital career path that focuses on the next generation of learners.!
The high school staff celebrated Dr. Vickie Person for National Principal Appreciation Day! The teachers showed her lots of love, giving her different gifts, goodies, and flowers! Dr. Person’s leadership, commitment, and care for both students and staff have made a lasting impact on our school, and it was a well-deserved moment of recognition.
With the school year winding down, stay tuned for more updates, celebrations, and memories as we head into our final weeks of the 2024-2025 school year!
