Crews with TVIfiber and TVEPA started the mainline construction to bring broadband fiber to Water Valley on May 1.
WATER VALLEY — TVIfiber officially started mainline construction to deliver much-needed broadband internet and telephone services to the unserved and underserved areas in the City of Water Valley on May 1. This milestone marks a major step toward TVIfiber closing the digital divide that has left Water Valley residents and businesses in some areas of the electric department’s coverage area struggling with limited connectivity.
Brad Robison, CEO of TVEPA and TVIfiber, told the Herald that as a company that lives and works alongside the people it serves, TVIfiber is deeply committed to the values of community and connection. This isn’t just about installing fiber—it’s about building a stronger Water Valley, Robison added.
“We understand the needs here because we’re your neighbors, not just a company looking at numbers,” Robison added. “Our mission is to improve the daily life experience for everyone—not just deliver profits to a bottom line. That’s the difference when you’re community-powered. TVIfiber extends our appreciation to the City of Water Valley’s leadership and electric department staff for their support and collaboration. We also want to praise the dedication and teamwork of our TVEPA line crews and TVIfiber teams for their vital roles in making this project possible.”
Residents can expect increased opportunities for remote work, virtual learning, telehealth, and reliable communication thanks to the infrastructure being deployed today. TVIfiber’s locally driven approach ensures that the people of Water Valley aren’t left behind in a digitally connected world.
To date, the engineering plans are 60 percent complete. Crews are performing make-ready pole change-outs with construction continuing as weather permits over the coming months. There have been three poles changed out with another 20 being addressed now. TVIfiber anticipates areas in the northwestern territory to be ready for service activations in the coming weeks.
