Oakland Will Celebrate Juneteenth
OAKLAND – The Town of Oakland invites the community to its annual Juneteenth Celebration, a two-day event filled with music, dancing, and meaningful fellowship to honor freedom, unity, and cultural heritage. All events take place at the James Riley Swearengen Park and Walking Track at 61 Walnut Street in Oakland.
Both days feature music and family friendly activities. The action starts Friday from 8 to 10 p.m. with a high-energy kickoff featuring live karaoke and line dancing! Whether you’re ready to grab the mic or hit the floor, it’s the perfect way to enjoy a night of fun, family, and fellowship with friends and neighbors.
The celebration continues Saturday with excitement for all ages. Set-up for vendors starts at 2 p.m. and the event opens to the public at 4 p.m. Local favorite Dark & Lovely and crowd-pleasing Down South Band will perform. A Kids Zone with fun activities and games is part of the event along with delicious food, local vendors, and community spirit on full display.
Mayor James Riley Swearengen and town leaders encourage everyone to come out, celebrate freedom, and enjoy this special weekend. The Juneteenth Celebration is a free event and open to all.
