Mt. Liberty News
By Melissa Brooks

I hope everyone had a very happy Fourth of July. We had a wonderful time with our church family. We met at Bro. Grant Coffey and Leigh Anne’s for a cookout and to swim in the pool. We shot fireworks. It was an amazing time of fellowship. To me, it wasn’t even as hot as it has been.

Bro. Grant Coffey gave a great message Sunday, starting in Isaiah 59:1-4. Our salvation has nothing to do with whether or not we are a good person. We are called unto good works, but we are not saved by them. Sin separates us from God. We go about our days thinking we’re fine. This is the definition of self-righteousness. But without Jesus, we are not fine. Isaiah 64:6-7 tells us God hid His face from us because of our sins. The Bible is telling us what God thinks of us—our righteousness is as dirty rags.

Romans 3:10 says none are righteous. The good news comes to us in Isaiah 53:5-6. We needed a Savior to bridge the gap between us and God. God laid our sins on Jesus. We are righteous in God’s eyes because of Jesus. He repaired our relationship with God. 2 Corinthians 5:18-21 tells us we are reconciled.

We’re kicking off Vacation Bible School this week also. We love getting the kids together and teaching them about Christ. I hope you all have a wonderful week, and if you’re looking for a home church, we invite you to join us. Services start at 11.
