Tillatoba News
By Patcie Deck
It is with a broken heart that I tell you, we lost a precious lady Monday morning. Rose Brown is now in her heavenly home. What a wonderful prayer warrior and church member she was at Tillatoba Baptist Church. I know Jesus has saved her a special place in the choir of Angels.
The Tillman Family Reunion will be held in the Tillatoba Baptist Church Fellowship Hall on October 11 starting at 11 a.m. Please bring a covered dish and join us for a lot of fun and reminiscing.
Debbie McCool said she and Tommy stayed home all weekend. Tommy hurt his foot Friday evening and a couple of toes are swollen and bruised, so he has been keeping it propped up.
Martha Box had a wonderful visit with neighbors and friends at Tillatoba Baptist Church Sunday. She reported a touching, teaching message about salvation and then about teaching and leading others through continuous learning from God’s Word.
Martha ran into a longtime friend and work partner, Charles Blaylock, and his lovely lady at the Hut when she went by to pick up lunch after church Sunday. She reported a wonderful visit.
“Wednesday was sister Joyce’s birthday. I took her to the Catfish Hut, and our brother, Jesse Wortham, met us there. Wyatt and I even sang happy birthday, while Jesse paid for our meal!” Martha also reported.
Martha said she stayed in Saturday and cooked a good Mexican meal, including taco soup. She sure enjoyed feeding Ben, Marnie, Ginger, Phil, Jake, and Josh. Yes, Candy was late landing but had a great visit and took some food home!
Faye Hartley was bragging on her grandson, Rowland Hartley, because his team, the Grenada Rockets, won first place in the tournament Saturday in Winona. Faye is recuperating from back surgery, so I don’t know if she got to go and watch Rowland play, but I know she has been to every one of his games that he has played this year, if I’m not mistaken.
Speaking of ball games, Waylon and Holly Dukes took their two children, Haven Rose and Waylon Jr., to the Ole Miss ball game Saturday. I think they had to cut the ball game short because the two little ones were getting tired.
Milton Harper had his two-week checkup with his surgeon Monday. He got his staples out and the doctor said the X-ray looks good. He needs more therapy to regain strength.
It was a fun time for little Waylon Dukes Jr. Sunday afternoon. He had his first birthday party. He will be one on Tuesday, September 23. I missed out on this little party but grandmother is feeling better, and I hope to see him Tuesday. I love you, baby boy, and happy first birthday.
Happy birthday to Bubba Howe, Sue Weir, and Jenny Lou Chambers on the 24th. Don Bowman celebrates his birthday on the 25th, Bobby Joe McClanahan on the 26th, and Karel Knowles on the 28th. Sandy Beavers and George Biddle (watch it George, you’re gonna catch up with me!) celebrate on the 29th, followed by Kay Bridges and Rina Chaney on the 30th. I pray you all have a wonderful birthday!
Thought for the day — unpopular opinion. That’s wisdom right there.
