WATER VALLEY – Water Valley Fire Chief Mark McGavock is encouraging anyone interested in a career with the Water Valley Fire Department to submit an application for a new hiring pool.
“We’re trying to make a pool to be able to hire from when positions become available,” McGavock explained. “That way, we can move more quickly when an opening comes up.”
The chief said turnover at the department is very low,. “People love it here,” he said. “We have a strong team atmosphere and offer a lot of training opportunities.”
McGavock noted that the department is staffed by both full-time and part-time firefighters who respond to a wide variety of calls — from structure and grass fires to vehicle accidents.
Applications can be picked up at Water Valley City Hall, located at 101 Blackmur Drive, during regular business hours.
