Bobby Wilson Hutchins, Sr.
OXFORD – Bobby Wilson Hutchins Sr., 92, passed away on November 12, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. A memorial service was held Tuesday, November 18, at North Oxford Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Williams officiating.
Bobby was born on April 5, 1933, in Big Creek to the late Billie Dubois Rotenberry and Wilson Hutchins.
In his younger years, Bobby loved traveling to new places, collecting stories and experiences that he generously shared with friends and family. His love for aviation began in childhood when he crafted stick planes—a hobby that grew into a remarkable lifelong journey.
Throughout his extensive career with the Federal Aviation Administration, he made significant contributions in electronics and airway facilities during his service in Panama, Puerto Rico, and Miami. At just 17, he earned his pilot’s license. He thoroughly enjoyed flying and building model airplanes, and even after he hung up his wings in 2008, he kept his license current.
Bobby also possessed a remarkable eye for photography, capturing the beauty around him and preserving memories in every frame. His passion for history was equally strong. As a dedicated member of the Historical Society in Coffeeville, he delighted in sharing his knowledge and fostering a sense of community through local history.
After a fulfilling FAA career, Bobby retired and turned his attention toward technology. He opened his own computer business, where he poured his heart and expertise into helping others navigate the ever-changing world of computers.
He remained deeply committed to his faith and his church. As a Deacon at North Oxford and a beloved Sunday School teacher, Bobby touched the lives of many and nurtured both the faith and hearts of those he served.
Bobby’s greatest joy was his marriage to his beloved wife, Mrs. Bobbie Hutchins, with whom he shared 67 wonderful years. Their enduring love created a beautiful family who will forever hold his memory close and carry on his legacy of kindness and adventure. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nan (Jimmy) Haines of Dallas, Texas, and Lesli (Cindy) Hutchins of Starkville; his son, Bob Hutchins Jr. (Kellie) of Franklin, Tenn.; his grandchildren; one great-granddaughter, Ella Haddad of Dallas; five sisters, Sharon Harbin of Grenada, Karen (Allen) Hancock of New Albany, Robin (Robert) Miller of Bartlett, Tenn., Nancie (Dennis) Weems of Olive Branch and Candy Tallant of Coffeeville; and his brother, Bill (Shelly) Rotenberry of Coffeeville.
Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Hutchins; his mother, Billie Dubois Rotenberry; his father, Wilson Hutchins; and his sister, Lynn Loftin.
