School will be out in a few days for the Christmas holidays. I pray all school and college students and faculty members will have a safe and fun vacation from school for a couple of weeks.
Ginger Harrison and her husband, Phil, along with their Aunt Linda Harrison, had a great lunch at Diane Nail Hill’s Sunday. They were celebrating Phil’s birthday early. Phil’s birthday is the 16th. Happy belated birthday, Phil!
Deborah McCool texted and said her son’s mother-in-law, Mary Howington of Senatobia, passed away Sunday morning, December 14. Mary had been sick for a long time and lived with her daughter, Samantha, and Chris McCool.
Deborah and Tommy were in Leland this past weekend and took Tommy’s sister, Alice Kellum, with them. A little early Christmas with Tommy’s sisters.
Diane Dukes said her grandson, J.R. Dukes, took his girlfriend, Ashlee Julian, deer hunting and she killed her first deer, an eight-point. She was in “hog heaven.” J.R. just took her to see what she could do and she showed him. I think J.R. was as surprised as Ashlee!
George Cossar Park had a good turnout for the children to have cookies with Santa Claus, and pictures were also taken.
My word, Sunday is already over again, says Martha Box. Hold on, babes, ’cause here it comes again.
Martha had a great visit with family and friends at Pine Grove Church Saturday night. Great food prepared by great cooks. And the Christmas decor and singing really lifted our spirits.
“And what a wonderful Jesus message Sunday morning! Bro. Tommy Darby put the exclamation mark on receiving and keeping salvation from our Lord! And what a Christmas meal! Talk about southern cooking and a great time. So love getting to worship with and visit with my lifelong friends and family! So loved all the Christmas decor everywhere. John Box quite an artist! And his Arica too,” Martha said.
Lila Myrick said to please add her niece, Katelyn McClanahan (Joey’s wife), to your prayer list. She went to the emergency room the other night, and tests showed she has a very rare kind of E. coli, and there’s nothing they can give her to treat it. They said it has to run its course. She’s really weak.
Thank you so much, my sweet daughter, Donna Garripoli, for coming up two days and cleaning house, decorating my tree, and helping put things away that are only collecting dust. Thanks also for the delicious chocolate fudge and for the coconut balls.
Celebrating birthdays this week are Sweet Lynlee Moorman, who celebrated her 5th birthday Monday, December 15, Kristie Hartley and Angie Waldo on the 18th, and Mae Brannon White on the 21st. Steve Bailey and Chase Newman celebrate on the 22nd, and Angela Purdy celebrates on the 23rd. I hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating your special day!
Thought for the day: when the grandmothers of today hear the word Chippendales, they don’t necessarily think of chairs.
