Tillatoba News
By Patcie Deck
Sunday afternoon, your writer, along with my son Timothy Sullivan and my husband David, motored to Cleveland for a holiday meal with our son Derek and Jane Claire Deck. We enjoyed oyster Rockefeller, crab spears grilled by son Logan, macaroni and cheese, and a delicious pasta Derek prepared with steak and sausage and all kinds of spices. Knowing Derek, it could have been alligator, but whatever it was, it was so good.
Those enjoying the meal were Logan and Mills Deck of Madison; Brad, Frankie, and Bradley Holliday of Grenada; Derek, Jane Claire, Katie, and Brewer Deck; and Katie’s friend. We headed back to Tillatoba full as a tick.
Thursday night, Faye Hartley hosted a birthday party celebrating Kristie. Those attending were Mark, Nathan, Rowland, Mary Brett, and McLendon Hartley; Tyler Welch; Beth and Hallie DeLoach; and Annie, Saylor, and Emily Box. There was lots of food and fellowship.
On Saturday, Tyler Welch surprised Kristie with another birthday party at the Hartleys, with help from Faye Hartley, Annie Box, and Beth DeLoach. Once again, there was plenty of food and fellowship.
Martha Box reported that the Christmas tree was up, Santa was bowing to the Baby in the manger, and joy could be felt everywhere. Love was truly in the air.
During the week of Christmas, Martha did some walking at Walmart and met her granddaughters, Marissa Jackson and Addie, for lunch Wednesday at the Country Store. She also did some baking and shared treats with her coffee buddies for Christmas.
Martha had lunch Saturday with her sister Joyce at Joyce’s home. The lunch was provided through a church group for the community. “What a great feeling of Christmas,” Martha said.
Martha attended church Sunday at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
“Wow, wonderful singing joyful songs by the choir, and Christmas Holy Ground so well preached by Brother Scarborough,” Martha said. “The Spirit was invited throughout the service, followed by Jake Harrison singing O Holy Night, which will be a lifetime memory.”
The day ended with a great visit with her son Ben Box, followed by a nap, which capped off a wonderful day.
Ann Hudson, your writer’s sweet sister of Grenada, visited Sunday after church. Ann loves coming back to Tillatoba Baptist Church to hear Brother Ricky Harris preach, and the children singing is one of her favorite parts of the service.
Tommy and Deborah McCool spent Sunday with Christopher and Samantha McCool while attending Samantha’s mother’s funeral in Senatobia. They also traveled to Leland, where Tommy is working on repairs at his sister’s house.
Angela and Patrick Dukes traveled to Alabama on Friday and spent the weekend with their daughter Allison and Cameron.
Waylon Dukes and J.R. Dukes attended the Ole Miss game, had a good time, and enjoyed visiting with old friends.
Visiting with us during the Christmas holidays was a very special little girl, six-month-old Luci McKinney. Her parents, Jordan McKinney and Cate Jones, brought her to see us.
Joanna Pullen visited her granddaddy, Billy Chambers, Sunday afternoon. “I know there was a lot of talking going on,” reported Diane Dukes.
Sheryn Goode was sick during the Christmas holidays. She would like to thank Frieda and Frank Weir for the food and goodies, and also Martha Box for the food. It is so nice to have good friends and neighbors. We’re glad you’re feeling better, Sheryn.
Junior Dukes and Cat Benson went to Southaven Saturday afternoon to see the Christmas lights. They were like two children, enjoying every minute and spending time together.
Amber Jackson and her co-worker Ms. Patsy traveled to Cleveland to see the Christmas lights. This was Amber’s first time seeing them. Amber’s two sons, Logan and Bradley, went along and loved every minute of it.
