Coughlin Earns Multiple Scholastic Awards

Annaliese Coughlin, a student at The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science, has earned multiple honors in the 2026 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, presented in Mississippi by the Eudora Welty Foundation.

Coughlin received a Gold Key for her poetry piece “my silver pinky ring,” which advances to national-level judging in New York City. In addition, she earned Silver Keys for “11:11” (poetry) and “Magnolia” (short story).
She also received Honorable Mention recognition for “The Woman of the Night” (poetry) and “Violent Valentines” (personal essay and memoir).

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are among the nation’s most prestigious programs for creative students in grades 7–12. Entries are evaluated by panels of creative professionals for originality, technical skill and the development of a personal voice.

National medalists will be announced March 25.
