YALOBUSHA COUNTY – Mississippi voters will head to the polls Tuesday, March 10, for the state’s congressional and U.S. Senate primary elections. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
In the Second Congressional District, incumbent Bennie G. Thompson faces Democratic challengers Evan Littleton Turnage and Pertis Herman Williams III. Republicans Ron Eller and Kevin Wilson are seeking their party’s nomination for the Second District. Bennie Foster is running as an independent in November.
For U.S. Senate, Republican incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith faces challenger Sarah Adlakha in the GOP primary. Democrats Scott Colom, Albert R. Little and Priscilla W. Till are also on the ballot. Ty Pinkins is running as an independent in the general election.
Daryl Burney, Yalobusha County Circuit Clerk, said absentee voting is underway.
The deadline to cast an absentee ballot in person is Saturday, March 7. Both courthouses will be open until noon that day. Absentee ballots may be cast at the Circuit Clerk’s offices in Water Valley and Coffeeville during regular business hours.
A runoff, if needed, will be held April 7. Poll workers for the primary are:

Beat One South: Rodney Gray, Cheryl Gray, Clydie Nicholson and Kia Shelton;
Beat Two Water Valley: Erin Abbott, Cathy Magee, Irene Judson, Linda Pulley, Jeanette Whitehead and Ricky Pullen;
Beat Three Armory: Terry Anthony, Cathy Pullen, Reeda Cofer, Becky York, Kathy Patton and Cindy Ross;
Beat Three Sylva Rena: Rose Bennett, John Ferrer, Kim Tatum, Connie Champion and Ora Lee Phillips;
Beat Four Coffeeville: Riva Shelton, Elizabeth Johnsey, Mary Bland, Claude Harris and E’dris Shelton;
Oakland Beat Four: Lizzie Bland, Freddie Winters, David Herring, Carolyn Turner and Jane Jolly;
Beat Five Coffeeville: Denise Box, Elsie Harrison, Jean Farmer, Avis Jean Dean, Ruthie White and Karen Hughes;
Beat Five Scobey: Vickie Camp, Rickey Camp, Kristine Kelley, Gloria Royston and Barbara Duke;
