WATER VALLEY – The Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Chamber reception on Tuesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. at Fountain Square. The event offers an opportunity to step away from the everyday pace, catch up with neighbors, and take a look at ongoing developments in the community. Both longtime Chamber members and those interested in local activities are encouraged to attend.
Watermelon Queen Preslee Fischer will welcome guests as the evening begins. Mayor Tommy Reynolds will deliver the State of the City address, providing an overview of the past year and a look ahead at future plans.
This year’s guest speaker will be Matt Laubhan of Mississippi Live Weather. Known to many residents for his coverage during severe weather events, Laubhan will speak in a more relaxed setting during the program.
The evening will also include the presentation of the Braswell Hatcher Community Service Award, recognizing an individual whose behind-the-scenes efforts have contributed to the community.
The Chamber will introduce its incoming Board of Directors for the 2026-27 term. The recipient of the Elliott Scholarship also will be announced, continuing a tradition of support for local students.
In addition, the first recipient of the Zandra Walker Heart of Water Valley Scholarship will be announced. The scholarship recognizes individuals who demonstrate a strong commitment to the community.
Refreshments provided by Six Peas Catering will be served during the event. The evening will include time for visiting and fellowship.
