Hello everyone and welcome back to the Inside of the Blue and White! School is winding down and awards programs and exams are taking place across campus.
Senior Awards Day was held Thursday, with many seniors receiving scholarships and special recognition. Academic honors were also announced, including Madison Bryant as valedictorian, Savannah Vinyard as salutatorian and Amari Gooch as historian. Honor graduates and Hall of Fame students were recognized as well. Seniors also received graduation cords and awards celebrating their accomplishments and hard work throughout the school year.
Students in the Law and Public Safety program wrapped up the 2025-2026 school year by successfully completing adult, child and infant CPR certifications.
The Principles of Agriculture, Agriculture and Natural Resources I and Agriculture and Natural Resources II classes recently completed a detailed unit on poultry production and the poultry industry.
Jaylan Bledsoe was hired as lead coach for the Blue Devil baseball team.
Water Valley baseball will also have a new head coach next season, as Jaylan Bledsoe takes over the program. Bledsoe brings years of experience and success as both an athlete and coach.
During his time at Grenada High School, Bledsoe was a standout three-sport athlete in football, basketball and baseball before continuing his baseball career at the college level.
He began his collegiate career playing under Coach Kenny Dupont at Holmes Community College, where he earned MACJC First Team All-State honors during both his freshman and sophomore seasons. Bledsoe later continued his career at Jackson State University, where he earned recognition on the Preseason Players to Watch list, received All-SWAC honors and was recognized during the SWAC Tournament.
Coach Bledsoe has built an impressive coaching résumé at several schools and programs. He previously served as an assistant coach at Grenada High School and Mississippi Delta Community College before joining Mississippi Valley State University, where he worked as assistant coach, recruiting coordinator and interim head coach. Most recently, he spent the past two years as head coach at Claflin University in South Carolina, leading the team to a CIAA Tournament Championship. He has also coached with the well-known East Coast Sox baseball organization.
