Water Valley Blood Drive Scheduled June 9

WATER VALLEY — Mississippi Blood Services is encouraging local residents to donate blood during an upcoming community blood drive scheduled for June 9 at Dollar General in Water Valley.

The blood drive will be held from noon until 4 p.m. as part of Mississippi Blood Services’ efforts to maintain an adequate blood supply during the summer months. 

According to Mississippi Blood Services, blood donations typically decline during the summer as school schedules change, families travel and normal routines are disrupted. At the same time, the need for blood remains constant and can increase because of accidents, emergencies and ongoing medical treatments.

All donors will receive a special thank-you gift at the time of donation, and walk-ins are welcome.

Mississippi Blood Services also encourages businesses, churches, schools and civic organizations to consider hosting blood drives to help support local hospitals and patients in need.
