Members of the winning 4-H team were Beau Harrison, Emaline Swindoll, Ella Garlington, Christopher Martin, Susan Schroyer, Wyatt Hughes, Londyn Harrison and Auston Hughes.
Eight Yalobusha County senior 4-H members brought home a first-place victory from 4-H Club Congress at Mississippi State University last week, winning the 4-H Modeling Squad Showdown after months of preparation and teamwork.
The team began planning for the competition several months ago when members decided they wanted to participate in the event, which challenges contestants to create and perform an original fashion show presentation.
Participants were responsible for developing a theme, selecting outfits, choosing music, writing narration, creating choreography and designing stage decorations. Teams also had to set up and perform their presentation within a limited time frame.
After weeks of brainstorming, planning and practice, the Yalobusha County team unveiled its production, “4-H Flight 2026 Across America,” on the stage of Bost Auditorium at Mississippi State University.
Their efforts earned first place in the competition and an opportunity to perform the winning presentation for the entire conference on the stage of Lee Hall.
A special thank you was extended to volunteer 4-H leader Nicole Folson and the parents who helped support the project.
County 4-H leaders said the accomplishment reflects the hard work, creativity and dedication of the students, who spent months preparing for the event.
