Water Valley Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash

BATESVILLE – Jametric Letraile Judson, 48, of Water Valley, died Wednesday, June 24, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 55 near Batesville.
Judson was a longtime employee of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as detention supervisor and supervised C Shift at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
Sheriff Joey East announced Judson’s passing in a statement posted on the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, remembering him as a dedicated public servant and valued member of the department.
“Jametric was a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him,” East said. “His steady leadership, kind spirit and unwavering commitment to his fellow employees and those in his care left a lasting impact on our department. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Judson began his career with the department in 2012 as a jailer. Over the next 14 years, he advanced through the ranks through his hard work, dedication and leadership, ultimately serving as supervisor of C Shift at the detention center.
Sheriff East asked the community to keep Judson’s family, friends and members of the sheriff’s office in their thoughts and prayers.
A 1996 graduate of Water Valley High School, Judson participated in football, track and field, weightlifting, summer baseball and DECA, where he served as an officer. He later earned an Associate of Arts degree from Northwest Mississippi Community College before receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi.
Judson is survived by his parents, James and Mildred Judson of Water Valley, and his son, Emanuel Letraile Judson “Man,” also of Water Valley.
He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Courtney (Shirley) Judson, Mary Judson, Sandra Jones, Shelia (Joe) Turner and Shirley Adams, all of Water Valley; Johnny (Carolyn) Judson of Columbus; Donerell (Lori) Judson of Virginia; Minnie Douglas of Chicago; Pearlie Adams of Milan, Illinois; and Jerry Edwards and Ralph Edwards of Detroit. He also leaves a host of cousins, including two special first cousins, George Adams “Punkin” and Markeeya Judson, and shared a special bond with his great-uncle, Leon Flemings, “Uncle Lee.”
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Johnny (Ora) Edwards, George (ClealaMae) Adams, Freddie B. (Fredine) Judson and Garfield (Dora) Flemings; and by his aunts and uncles, Evonn Edwards, Ella Edwards, Jean Edwards, Margaret (Edward) Roberts, George Adams, Lester Adams, Willie Douglas and Willie (Joyce) Judson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 2, from 10 a.m. until noon at Everdale Missionary Baptist Church, 599 Wise St., Water Valley. Funeral services will begin at noon in the church sanctuary, with burial to follow at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 315. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
