The Spunk Monkees will perform Friday during the Watermelon Carnival Street Dance, entertaining the crowd before and after the annual fireworks show.
Live music will begin Friday night and continue throughout Saturday as part of the 56th annual Watermelon Carnival.
Friday’s Street Dance, sponsored by FNB-Water Valley, will begin on the Central Street stage following the opening ceremonies.
Mississippi singer-songwriter Charlie Mars will perform from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Mars has spent more than three decades building a career around his easygoing sound and honest songwriting.

Charlie Mars will help kick off Friday night’s Watermelon Carnival Street Dance with a performance beginning at 6:15 p.m.
The Spunk Monkees will take the stage from 7:30 to 9 p.m. with their high-energy mix of rock favorites. The band will return from 9:15 to 10:30 p.m. following the fireworks display at 9 p.m.
Music will continue Saturday, Aug. 1, at the City Park gazebo, with entertainment sponsored by the Water Valley Area Chamber of Commerce.
Tom Foolery will open the gazebo lineup from 9 to 11 a.m., bringing a mix of familiar favorites to start the day.
Water Valley singer-songwriter Jacob King will perform from 11 a.m. until noon. Following a short break, Pharm Truck will take the stage from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. with its Southern blues-rock sound. Tanner Mills will close out the gazebo lineup from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a mix of country and classic rock.
Carnival visitors can find a shady spot and enjoy the music while visiting the food, craft and activity areas throughout City Park.
