A big shout-out and thank you to all of the men and women who work for the energy companies. We fuss out of aggravation, but when we realize how hard you work and the long, tireless hours, it makes us feel ashamed. You are our heroes!
Freddie Wayne McClanahan came home Thursday evening after a long stay in the hospital at Oxford. He is still on strong antibiotics. Home health is supposed to come check on him, said his sister, Lila Myrick. Lila also said Brandon McClanahan came to visit his dad and his uncle Bobby Joe and other relatives.
Breanna McClanahan also visited with her dad and other family on Thursday.
Kirsti and her children, Liam, Fynlee and Remington, spent time with Bobby Joe and family recently.
Martha Box said it has been a hot few weeks for sure. But when the power went off Saturday evening, the heat was on all night long. Churches were without power, too, so it was hot all day long.
Many thanks to Darby of “Wood and Stone” for coming by to offer help and a generator. Phil and Josh Harrison and Ben Box got me hooked up to save food and cooled the den so much my worn-out self took a nap! Thank heavens for their abilities and want-to’s, because Superwoman has not returned!
“Missed church but had a great coffee and pancakes at daughter Ginger’s. We discussed thankfully that our Lord is with us!” Martha added.
Ironically, Martha’s power came back soon after the generator started. Brother Jesse Wortham had to come disconnect the generator!
Your writer got to see her sweet great-granddaughter, Princess Millie Kate, the other day. As they stepped in my door, she heard GiGi’s voice and those eyes flew open, and her smile melted my heart! Sweet sister Addie is really spoiling that baby.
George P. Cossar State Park is looking for volunteers to help clean up the park following the storm. A cleanup is planned for Saturday, Aug. 29.
Cossar State Park had a great turnout for bingo Wednesday. Around 20 people showed up. Their next bingo will be Sept. 16.
Haven Rose Dukes had a wonderful time at Just Flip It in Oxford for her sixth birthday. Friends from Tillatoba were Jo Pullen and Scottie Little.
Lauri McCullar is getting over the flu. She is feeling much better, Diane said.
Jacque Chambers said they finally got lights after going to town and filling up jugs with $100 worth of gas. Her sister-in-law, Arica Box, also called and said the lights are on!
Happy birthday to James Lee Sturdivant on the 21st; Haven Rose Dukes, my precious great-granddaughter, celebrates the 26th; Nick Traywick and Brent Bowman, the 27th; Louise Gaither celebrates the 28th; Jonny Jackson, the 29th; and Chad Eskridge, the 30th. May you all have a blessed day.
