Ginger Box said they had a great weekend. She got to watch Josh Harrison and his band, The War Horse, perform in Oxford Friday night. They really did a great job. They will be at the Downtown Jubilee in Grenada on Sept. 12.
On Saturday, son Jake Harrison came home and we enjoyed hearing all about his new job at SuperTalk FM producing some of the sports shows, the Friday night scoreboard show and the Saturday Garden Mama and Handyman shows. He’s really enjoying it.
On Sunday, Ginger and family enjoyed another great sermon from Bro. Scarborough followed by the fifth-Sunday lunch. They traveled to Eupora Sunday afternoon to celebrate her friend Shirley Lane’s daughter, Olivia Lane, who just got engaged. They definitely had a fun, busy weekend.
Phillip and Susan Bell of Caledonia surprised them on Sunday with a chicken dinner. They were en route home from attending the 50th wedding anniversary celebration for her cousins, Melvin and Betty Traywick, in Sardis on Saturday.
This past Sunday there was a surprise birthday party for Roseann Dukes Rose. She celebrated her 39th birthday on Aug. 20, but due to the storm and the power outage last week, they had to postpone it to this week. Roseann felt all the love as her family and friends were in attendance. Frankie Holliday and Darlene Dukes hosted the event at the “Five Rose’s Barn” here in Tillatoba.
Sadie Harper said they are doing okay. Milton is glad to be home. He has physical therapy twice a week and a nurse once a week.
Sadie, I hope his nurses are as sweet as the ones who come to see me once a week.
Jacque Chambers said it had been kinda quiet on her end. Her husband, Adam, went gator hunting all night Friday at Horseshoe Lake in Tchula. He only saw a small one. Adam is going back next weekend to a different place. I hope you have better luck, Adam. Her great-grandson, Bradley Holliday Jr., met all of his scores in the state testing for his seventh-grade year in math and English/language arts and was able to attend a special trip to Oxford with other classmates who also met their goals.
Way to go, Bradley. I know your O’ma and granddaddy are so very proud of you! Keep up the great work!
Martha Box said she stayed home Monday and did nothing. Martha did have a great coffee meeting at her place. She enjoyed Harvey and Linda Darby with Kenny Parker and Ricky Dunn visiting and catching up.
“It was so good we repeated it Thursday with my homemade apple cobbler! Hope to do Monday and Thursday for a while, so doors open, come on in,” Martha added.
Martha finally got busy Saturday baking banana cakes and high-protein lemon cupcakes! That was followed by a great evening with friends. She enjoyed a wonderful Sunday, with a great sharing of Jesus and His Word during communion.
“Such touching music. As I was having such a strong memory moment, the piano lady sang an unplanned tune that touched my soul and brought me through,” Martha said.
Thought for the day… How many of you ladies and girls still remember cutting your old blue jeans off to make shorts and would hang them on a clothesline and shoot holes through them to be in style?
