Workers with Malouf Construction Company reroute Town Creek in 1996 to align the creek with a new box culvert. Riprap was placed along the newly formed channel behind B&M Building Supply, looking south toward downtown Water Valley.
20 Years—August 31, 2006 – Water meters will be installed in all Water Valley churches. Previously churches were not charged for water.
Lester “Bubba” Tubbs lost his life in a house fire last week. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The Water Valley Blue Devils defeated their rivals, the Bruce Trojans, 28-12, Friday night. Wingback Ronnie Ferrell helped propel the way to this victory.
30 Years—September 5, 1996 – Officers of the 1996 Water Valley Blue Devils Booster Club are: Bobby Murphree, president; Jim Dickey, vice president; Cathy Aldy, secretary; Robert Doolin, treasurer; and Jeanette Whitehead, publicity chairman.
The Blue Devils defeated Holly Springs, 43-24, in the season opener.

40 Years—August 28, 1986 – The Water Valley Ministerial Group has been reactivated. New officers are: Rev. Guy Reedy, pastor of First Baptist, president; Rev. Bill Lott, pastor of First United Methodist, vice president; Rev. Fred Eakes, pastor of North Main Methodist, treasurer; and Rev. John Wingard, pastor of First Presbyterian, secretary.
The Water Valley Blue Devils will open their season at home against the Charleston Tigers. Blue Devil seniors are Craig Hankins, Danny Edwards, John Callahan, Broderick Cook, Terry Sayles, Michael Camp, Phil Person, Roger Horton, Marvin Holmes, Kevin Kimzey, and Jeff Mayes.
50 Years—September 2, 1976 – The Blue Devils will open their season against Holly Springs Friday night. Head coach for the team this season is Water Valley native Dean Wright, who stated that he is optimistic about the season.
60 Years—September 1, 1966 – Four Yalobusha County football players are members of the Northwest Mississippi Junior College team. They are Harold Henderson, Bubba Peacock, and Rick Parsons, all of Water Valley, and John Hartley of Oakland.
Head coach for the Blue Devils is Bobby Clark, and assisting are Truman Albritton and Don Johnson.
70 Years—September 6, 1956 – J. B. Cowan is the winner of the August fishing contest, sponsored by Yalobusha Sportsmen’s Club, for the biggest crappie caught during the month. He came in just under the wire, with a three-pound prize winner, caught about sunset on the last day of the month.
The football season will open with a home game against Senatobia.
80 Years—September 5, 1946 – Mr. and Mrs. K. R. Sissell were given a surprise party by their children, Kenneth, Carolyn, and Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Sissell, in celebration of their 33rd wedding anniversary.
